Updates & tricks to be a superb nerd

Phew! It has been......light years since this blog is last updated!! Thousands of apologies my darlings for the uber slow updates.....

Since our last post, life as nerds have taken its toll on us. You see, we have been ultra busy trying to finish assignments, lab reports and meetings preparations, on top of that, we got to do weekly recap of lectures/tutorials, shopping, eating, facebooking, happyfarming, restaurant citying, sorority houseing, pet societying, texting, msn-ing, grocery shopping, oh wait....sorry, got off-track.

Life as nerds have been so hard these last 3 weeks, to the point that we go to uni on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So basically, we sort of live at uni and our lovely apartments have turned into hotels, used only to bathe and sleep, nothing more, nothing less.

Pathetic? Yes.
We have no life? Yes.
We are obsessed with uni work? Yes.

It's boring as hell being a nerd? No.

You see, being nerds is not as simple as it sounds. Most commoners i.e. non-nerds, believe that being nerds is a simple matter of burying your head in books or in this digital age; it's a matter of slowly decreasing your acuity by staring at the colorful and gorgeous world of LCD display. Well my friends.......being nerds is far more challenging than that!

Being nerds means you have to know all of the following:
1. The opening and closing times of your favorite libraries
2. The rules and restrictions regarding food/drinks at your favorite study places (nerds eat and drink too you know)
3. Where to go when your favourite study box is packed
4. Where to go/ what to do when your place of nerding undergoes a blackout.
5. Which study places are open 24 hrs and what is needed to access them
6. Having a back-up to your back-up disk in case you lose/misplaced your usb
7. Have your audio lectures in your ipod/itouch, in case the internet is being slow and stupid and doesn't allow you a smooth, enjoyable experience when streaming your audio lecture.

and the list goes on......... feel free to add any that is missing from the above list.

If you've ticked all the things listed above, congratulations!

You are officially a world class nerd :)

Btw kiddies, this week i.e. the week that starts on Monday 25 May 2009 (I believe the week starts on a Monday, not a Sunday) is WEEK TWELEVE (Week 12), 12th week of the Semester aka the LAST WEEK OF SEMESTER 1 in the ACADEMIC CALENDER ala University of Melbourne. What this means, in short: life as nerds just got even harder.

being the nerds that we are.... we (or at least I) get bagged....a lot.....for not having a so-called-life nor friends. but the funny thing is, those who bring us down don't seem to have that much of a life and/or friends anyway. so here's a picture that completely describes our situation:

so I was sitting in percy-baxter today, pondering why

when my mind wanders off into the cloud and...
i wonder how my restaurant city is going....
i wonder if i've made enough coins to buy that new, sleek, uber cool, modern sofa...
i wonder if my little children are hungry and need to be fed...
i wonder if my pet is hungry, dirty and grumpy
i wonder if mimi has once again sabotaged me on happyfarm...
and whether someone has killed me off in mobwars....
and whether someone has tweet me on tweeter
or posted a comment on my facebook profile

so with this panicky rush, i logged into facebook's restaurant city, mobwars, pet society, happy farm and tweeter, then realizes....

i have no life outside these games and online social networking.....

in denial regarding this newfound realization, i looked up my phonebook and tried to count up how many of those few hundreds contacts that I am actually friends with. My heart sank as epically as the titanic, when I could use 1 hand to count my real-life-BFFs.

i thought i have many friends.

clearly my facebook friends of 300something has deluded me into thinking that way.


but then i got a game request called Sorority Life on facebook! ^o^ and i felt all better, coz someone out there actually thought of me and added me up on their house sorority!! *woot*WOOT*


oh, wait a minute.....



i am still stuck in this virtual world that deluded me into thinking i have truckloads of friends, dammit!

Nerds will always be nerds

Many of you might be nerds but it's just that you are in denial about being one or you might not know that you are, in fact, a nerd. You don't need to wear huge glasses or braces to be a nerd. That's not true anymore in this modern society.

What are the indication that you are a nerd? Well, the list might be never ending but here are the very important indicators that YOU, yes YOU, are a nerd:

1. Your second home is the LIBRARY! This means that you spent at least 5 hours in the library a few times a week.
2. You always go to the library almost everyday and not stepping into the library makes you sad.
3. When you don't study for a day, you feel extremely guilty.
4. To you, studying is a real FUN! (It's TRUE!)
5. Your textbook is one of your BFFs.

If you answer YES to one of them, I welcome you to our nerds club. Being a nerd does not mean that your life is ruined, we still can have lots of fun especially when we study together in the library. YAYY! :)
